A beauty that resides
in easy-to-use tools

Many excellent tools have supported our lives since ancient times.
Those tools are easily used without conscious thought
and have an unobtrusive beauty that becomes a part of daily life
through the graceful form of their use.
This is a concept that we value and pursue when designing our products.

Consider the rice bowl. Its base makes it easy to hold without burning your hand. It also naturally makes the way you hold it beautiful.

This is a traditional iron kettle. The pattern on the surface increases the surface area to improve heat retention, but it is also decorative and pleasing to the eye.

A Japanese kitchen knife

A Japanese kitchen knife looks simple, but its form is necessary to enhance the knife's sharpness and to best match certain ingredients and cooking styles. The more you use it, the better it fits your hand, creating a feeling of attachment.

NX

Toilet seats directly touch the skin, so we design them to be easy to sit on and clean to allow comfortable use every day. The toilet seat has a curved form we have researched and developed to lead users to a posture that facilitates toilet use.

FLOTATION TUB

This is a new bathtub concept, one that allows relaxation of body and mind while being immersed in a sense of floating. We have scientifically derived a relaxing form that maintains posture and stabilizes the center of gravity in a lay-down bathing style, creating a gentle design that envelops the user.

We create spaces that blend by eliminating unnecessary elements and allowing room for residents to create arrangements. Through design, we create forms that blend with architectural spaces, touch the human body, and feel comfortable.

While controlling the inflection of straight lines and curves, the design realizes both harmony with the architectural space and a graceful character. The design subtly adds accents and allows for interior coordination.

Washbasin TA

The asymmetrical form is inspired by uneven and gently fluctuating shapes existing in the natural world. It creates fortuitous accents that change their impression depending on the angle from which they are viewed in everyday settings.

TOTO’s founder, Kazuchika Okura, sent a letter to the Company’s second president, containing the words: “ Kindness must always come first. Your goal should be to provide good products and satisfy the customer. Accomplish that, and profit and prosperity will follow.” This message has been passed down from generation to generation of TOTO presidents as the words of our forebears. As TOTO’s 18th president, I will also position this way of thinking at the core of my management activities as I lead the approximately 35,000 TOTO Group employees working around the world as we seek to increase the number of TOTO fans worldwide.

I believe that the TOTO Group’s greatest strength is its people. I believe that TOTO’s pride and source of corporate value is that all group employees around the world—from research and product development to production, sales, and indirect departments—share the philosophy of “ All for the customer;” and that they think of their colleagues and help each other to improve.

The environment surrounding TOTO is changing rapidly, and it is clear that this situation will only continue to accelerate in the future. To keep up with these changes and pace of change, I would like us to make decisions more quickly than ever before, without fear of failure, and place importance on communication in order to achieve this.

The TOTO Group’s TOTO WILL 2030 strategy for creating shared value, which sets out the Group’s vision for 2030, has now reached its halfway point. Going forward, we will continue to push ahead without fear of change, taking into account the lessons learned in Stage 1, and envisage a grand design for the TOTO Group beyond 2030.
